Renovation to existing historic structure during summer semester break. A portion of the interior was remodeled in addition to life safety system upgrades. Extreme care was taken to capture all existing conditions prior to removal and duplication to ensure OEM replacement for all characteristics.

Our team led the Pre-Construction efforts as well as construction for this project. From suggestion, qualifying and working with the A&E team to guiding the owner to milestones to achieve a hard end date. This project is a great example of understand our client’s business needs.

Demolition only project. Aggressive six week schedule for demolition of 3 floors in a 6 story occupied mixed use building. This structure underwent many levels of renovations and application of finishes on top of existing finishes (ceilings and flooring for instance). Thus much time was required to get down to a raw slab and deck, stripping every support, hanger and accessory that existed in the perimeter shell.

  • Protection of adjacent tenants on floors above and below to cocoon our space in
  • Fire department coordination paramount with any hot or impairment work
  • Decks were left CLEAN- everything stripped to prepare for incoming tenant

Engaging and convincing Cambridge Historical Society to restore an otherwise non water tight and non life safety compliant structure with new technology was paramount and achieved. From paint colors to gutter materials, our team worked diligently to provide new age materials that would stand the test of time, while not sacrificing any historic elements. This collaboration yielded a successful project for the owner and community.

Build-It and Equity have a 8+ year, over 200 project repeat relationship. Although most of our projects with the Equity team are for new acquisitions and renovations, a few fell into the tragedy category. The backdrop of one of these projects involved a fatality as a result of a building fire. Thus, discrete interfacing with media and the public to ensure a high level of confidentiality was imperative. An extreme level of site protection, safety and security was upheld at all phases of project.

  • Complete MEP infrastructure (including a new fire suppression system and main)
  • Wood frame structural rebuild of entire building
  • Site utility and perimeter sidewalk and parking lot reconstruction
  • Selection and provision of interior finishes (AC’s, Kitchens, Baths, Beds)
  • Further design build scope was added to these projects in order to not only comply with current codes but also improve the overall status of the project

Build-It Construction carefully executed this structural rehab and interior improvements project in a manner which saved the Township north of $200,000 as a result of an accelerated schedule and self performing the majority of this project.

Build-It Construction was retained to manage the planning and design of this 5 story structure in Jamaica Plain. The private investors had never taken on a project of this caliber, however after a full year of pre-planning and detailed pre-construction, the Build-It team was able to bring this project to a permit ready status.

This project emphasizes collaboration of existing vendor teams. Build-It Construction was vetted and elected to build out the Massachusetts HQ of HB Communications, a global leader of high end audio/video equipment and software. Paired with Baker Design firm, the Build-It team collaborated to coordinate the long overdue renovation of HB’s existing HQ as well as fitup of an additional 7,000 SF of office space.

MIL (Mass Innovation Labs) hosts over 120ksf of real estate in Kendall Square for incubator biotech  and pharma companies. These spaces are equipped with lab amenities from: BSL 3 Rooms, Shaker stations, Incubators, and Benching Stations. These aspiring start up companies then bring their staff and equipment from infancy to near production. Build-It is a proud partner of MIL and we are excited to continue to grow with them.
